Sardar is a 2022 Indian spy action-thriller movie in the Tamil language that was written, directed, and produced by S. Lakshman Kumar under the banner of Prince Pictures. Karthi plays two roles in the movie alongside other notable actors Raashii Khanna, Rajisha Vijayan, Chunky Pandey, Laila, Rithvik, Yugi Sethu, Avinash, and Balaji Sakthivel. Cinematography by George C. Williams, film editing by Ruben, and music for the movie were all composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar. Laila makes a triumphant return to Tamil cinema, and Chunky Panday makes his acting debut in a Hindi film.

Returning from exile, a suspected traitor espionage agent destroys a questionable water project and defends the nation.

This film is a depiction of contrast between father and son’s beliefs. The son, a police officer, thinks that any action should be made public, but the father, an intelligence officer, served 32 years in prison for the greater good.

Sardar Overview

The Sardar movie was announced in November 2020, and shooting started in April 2021. The COVID-19 pandemic caused a year-long production delay. The next round of shoots began in January 2022 and ended in June 2022. Filming took place in Georgia, Azerbaijan, Chennai, Mumbai, Mysore, and Azarbaijan, and post-production work began in July 2022.

Prior to Diwali week, on October 21, 2022, Sardar was released in theaters and received overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics. The movie became one of the highest-grossing Tamil films of 2022 with a global take of 100 crore (US$13 million). The main cast will return for the sequel, Sardar 2, which is also in production.

Red Giant Movies purchased the sardar’s distribution rights for the Tamil Nadu region. but, Annapurna Studios obtained the rights to distribute Telugu in the United States. AV Media Consultancy purchased the distribution rights for the Karnataka region.

Aha acquired the film’s post-theatrical streaming rights. Prior to the start of filming, Kalaignar TV purchased the satellite rights to the sardar. On the streaming service starting on November 18, 2022, the movie had its online debut.
