Plot
The film follows Maddie Barker (Jennifer Lawrence), a 32-year-old Uber driver and bartender who is facing bankruptcy after her car is repossessed and she owes property taxes on her inherited home. She accepts a Craigslist posting from wealthy parents to date their 19-year-old son Percy (Andrew Barth Feldman), who is shy and inexperienced with girls, drinking, parties, and sex, in exchange for a car.
Maddie and Percy begin dating, but their relationship is complicated by misunderstandings and the fact that Maddie is only dating him for the car. When Percy discovers the truth, he crashes the car into the ocean and they part ways. Maddie decides to sell her house and move to California, but reconciles with Percy and promises to stay friends.
