Plot Summary

A man in a yellow hoodie breaks into a house and kills the resident, Akash Sardana. The investigation is led by Shivani Mathur, who discovers that the killer is Arjun Sehgal. However, a man named Sooraj is arrested and found to look identical to Arjun. DNA evidence reveals that they are identical twins.

The two men reveal their backstory, including their mother’s gambling addiction and suicide. Shivani and ACP are both trying to frame the other by concealing evidence to secure a solid alibi for Arjun and Sooraj. Six months later, the court can’t condemn either of them due to their solid alibi. Later, it is revealed that Janhvi, Arjun’s ex-girlfriend, fabricated his alibi.

Arjun confronts Akash, who reveals that he raped and killed Janhvi and paid 2 million to the police to drop the case. Out of rage, Arjun murders Akash. Sooraj had cleaned up the scene and planted evidence to divert attention from himself.

Gumrah 2023 : Development and Casting

In 2019, rumors began to circulate that a Hindi remake of the Tamil film Thadam was in the works. On March 4, 2020, the Gumrah film was officially announced as an untitled crime-thriller by Bhushan Kumar and Murad Khetani. The film was set to star Sidharth Malhotra and Mrunal Thakur, with Vardhan Ketkar making his directorial debut.

However, due to the coronavirus outbreak in late March 2020, the filming was postponed. In July 2021, the project was revived with Aditya Roy Kapur as the new lead, alongside Mrunal Thakur. Ronit Roy and Navneet Kaur Thind were also cast in important roles.

Gumraah 2023 : Filming

Filming for “Gumraah 2023” began in October 2021 and wrapped up in July 2022. The movie’s second schedule took place in Mumbai in May 2022, with Thakur joining the shoot alongside Ronit Roy.
